In short: there are three ways to open a Cardin gate with your phone. The manufacturer's own route, Cardin CRD ONE: the app that controls Cardin operators fitted with the right Bluetooth module and, with Cardin 3G or Wi-Fi receivers, remotely too. A wired module from another brand, such as Remootio or a GSM opener, on the control board. Or, with no wiring at all, 1Control SOLO: it copies the Cardin remote you already use (S449, TXQ S449, S486, TXQ 486, XRADO, S437, S438) and opens from the app over Bluetooth, with no internet at the gate. The S504, TXQ504, TXQ508, S435 and S476 cannot be copied, and neither can the old Cardin quartz remotes at 27-30 MHz: for them the route to your phone is SOLO + KIT.
Two details decide: the operator, which may or may not have the Bluetooth module for CRD ONE, and the exact model of your remote. The general method is in our guide on how to open a gate with your smartphone; to add another Cardin remote on the receiver, see program a Cardin remote. The information on CRD ONE comes from Cardin: the app listing and the website of its German branch.
Cardin gate and phone: the 3 routes side by side
| Solution | What you need | Installation | Internet needed? | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cardin CRD ONE, from the manufacturer | A Cardin operator with the right Bluetooth module and the CRD ONE app | Module on the operator, fitted by the installer; Cardin 3G or Wi-Fi receiver for remote use | Not at the gate (Bluetooth); yes for remote use | Prepared operators only: check on an older system |
| Wired module from another brand (Remootio, GSM) | A Wi-Fi or GSM module, a power supply, signal at the gate | Cable to the push-button input of the control board | Wi-Fi: almost always; GSM: mobile network | Work inside the control board |
| 1Control SOLO, wireless | A working Cardin remote from the list and the 1Control app | No cables: copy from the app, battery-powered SOLO near the gate | Not to open (Bluetooth); yes remotely, with the LINK hub | Bluetooth range 15-20 m; S504, TXQ504, TXQ508 and quartz: SOLO + KIT |
If your Cardin operator already has the Bluetooth module, CRD ONE is the natural choice; with a good signal at the gate, a wired module does the job. When the control board cannot or should not be opened (rented home, shared gate, warranty), copying the remote to SOLO is the only route that touches nothing.
Cardin CRD ONE or SOLO: what the Cardin app does
CRD ONE is Cardin's app for the people who use the gate, free on iOS and Android. According to Cardin's German branch, it opens and closes Cardin sliding and swing gates, garage doors and barriers from your phone, instead of the remote, and pairs over Bluetooth: the operator must, however, have the right Bluetooth module. The app listing adds that CRD ONE switches the outputs of Cardin 3G and Wi-Fi receivers, shows the status of the inputs (open or closed) and sends commands to the PRO and TRADE control units. For installers Cardin has a separate app, CRD TWO, which programs the control units. See the CRD ONE listing on the App Store.
Mind the similar name: Ultimate Cardin, the app that often comes up when you search for a Cardin app, is the Cardin product catalogue, with technical documents and, for installers and dealers, price lists and quotes. It does not open the gate.
The difference with SOLO is the approach. CRD ONE talks to the operator and needs one that is prepared for it; SOLO leaves the control board as it is and uses the remote that already works, so it depends on the remote model, not on the operator. With 1Control, the open or closed status comes from an opening sensor that works with LINK. On a fifteen-year-old Cardin gate with S449 remotes, ask the installer whether the operator takes the Bluetooth module before you look for the app.

No work on the control board: 1Control SOLO copies the Cardin remote
1Control SOLO learns the radio signal of your Cardin remote once and sends it again whenever the app asks. It is connected neither to the control board nor to the mains: two C batteries last about two years at around ten openings a day. It is weatherproof and mounted near the gate. The 1Control app guides the copy:
- Check the remote model (table below, then the compatibility checker).
- Hold the remote against the notch on the left side of SOLO and keep the button pressed until the app tells you to release it.
- Stay near the gate: with a Cardin remote the app asks for this, because SOLO has to communicate with the operator.
- Wait until the gate is fully closed, then press the "open/close" button the app shows at the end: the gate should start moving.
The remote must work: a lost one cannot be copied. One copy per gate is enough; the standard SOLO handles up to 4 automations, even of different brands, and the original remotes keep working. Family and guests get free access in the app on their phone number. The steps with screenshots are in our guide to copying a garage remote to your phone.
Cardin remotes and SOLO: copies, KIT or quartz
The catalogue of the compatibility checker lists 54 Cardin models: SOLO copies 19, 7 need SOLO + KIT and 28 are quartz remotes. The exact model printed on the label, usually on the back or under the battery, is what counts: a TXQ S449 copies, a TXQ504 does not.
| Cardin remote | Frequency and coding | With 1Control SOLO (phone) | For an extra remote |
|---|---|---|---|
| S449 QZ1-QZ4, TXQ S449 (QZ1, QZ2, QZ4, GREEN) | 433.92 MHz, rolling code | Copies | 1Control WHY |
| XRADO, S437 TX (rolling code), S438 TX (fixed code) | 433.92 MHz | Copies | 1Control WHY |
| S486 QZ1-QZ4, TXQ 486, TXQ 486 NEW | 868.3 MHz, rolling code | Copies | 1Control WHY |
| S435 AZUL, S476-TX2, S504, TXQ504C2, TXQ504C4 (433 MHz), TXQ508C2, TXQ508C4 (868 MHz) | rolling code | Needs the KIT: SOLO + KIT | An original Cardin remote, stored on the receiver |
| S27, S38, S466, S48, S738 and variants | 27.09-30.875 MHz, fixed code, quartz | Quartz: SOLO + KIT | 1Control QZERO |
Catalogue of the 1Control compatibility checker, as of 23/10/2026.
Just need an extra remote, not your phone? 1Control WHY copies the same models on the list and becomes a pocket remote; the procedure for Cardin is in the programming guide linked above. The final word belongs to the compatibility checker, under Cardin: compatibility always means "if the model is on the list".
S504, TXQ504, TXQ508 or quartz: SOLO + KIT
The S435 AZUL, S476, S504, TXQ504 and TXQ508 cannot be copied, and neither can the Cardin quartz remotes (S27, S38, S466, S48, S738). The route to your phone is then SOLO KIT: a receiver with its own fixed-code remote, connected to the control board by a technician; SOLO copies the KIT remote and your Cardin remotes keep working. It is work on the control board, and if your operator takes the Bluetooth module, the fair comparison is with CRD ONE. In return the KIT works with any control board and opening stays on Bluetooth, with no cloud. If you cannot connect anything to the control board and your remote is not on the list, SOLO is not the right fit for you. For an extra remote, quartz models need 1Control QZERO; for the S504 and TXQ series, an original Cardin remote stored on the receiver.
Remootio, ismartgate and GSM gate openers
Search for how to open a Cardin gate with your phone and you soon find modules that are not made by Cardin. Remootio and ismartgate are smart gate openers wired to the push-button input of the control board, with their own maker's app. A GSM gate opener takes a SIM card, is wired the same way and opens when an authorised number calls (see our GSM gate opener guide). They fit almost any operator, but the control board has to be opened, the module needs power and the gate needs signal. SOLO starts from the radio signal instead: with a Cardin remote from the list, the control board stays closed and access is shared by phone number.
Your Cardin gate from afar, by voice and from the car
On its own, SOLO works over Bluetooth within 15 to 20 metres, less through reinforced concrete: it needs no network, even in an underground car park, but it will not open from the office. To open from anywhere, add 1Control LINK: the hub stays indoors, connects to the internet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet and passes commands to SOLO over Bluetooth, within about 25 metres in a straight line. LINK brings Alexa, Google Home, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; Siri Shortcuts already work with SOLO within Bluetooth range and, with LINK, from afar too. SOLO AUTO, the version you keep in the car, appears on CarPlay and Android Auto without LINK (see open your gate with CarPlay). All of this also works with the KIT: SOLO + KIT + LINK opens a gate with S504 remotes from afar.
FAQ: Cardin gates and your phone
Is there a Cardin app to open the gate with a phone?
Yes: CRD ONE, free on iOS and Android, controls Cardin operators fitted with the right Bluetooth module over Bluetooth and, according to the app listing, Cardin 3G and Wi-Fi receivers. Ultimate Cardin, on the other hand, is the product catalogue and does not open the gate. Without touching the control board there is 1Control SOLO, which copies a Cardin remote from the list.
Which Cardin remotes can 1Control SOLO copy?
S449 (QZ1-QZ4) and TXQ S449, XRADO and S437 (rolling code, 433.92 MHz), S438 (fixed code), S486 and TXQ 486 (rolling code, 868.3 MHz): 19 of the 54 models in the catalogue of 23/10/2026. The S435, S476, S504, TXQ504 and TXQ508 cannot be copied, nor can quartz models: for the phone, the route is SOLO + KIT.
I have a Cardin S504 or TXQ504 remote: how do I open the gate from my phone?
With SOLO + KIT: a receiver connected to the control board by a technician, with its own remote that SOLO copies. Your Cardin remotes keep working. If the operator has the Bluetooth module, Cardin's CRD ONE app is another option.
Can I open my Cardin gate when I am away from home?
Yes, with the LINK hub: it stays indoors, connects to the internet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet and passes the command to SOLO over Bluetooth. Without LINK, SOLO only opens from close by, within 15 to 20 metres.
Summary: which route for your Cardin gate
If your Cardin operator has the Bluetooth module, or a Cardin 3G or Wi-Fi receiver, CRD ONE is the manufacturer's route. With a working S449, TXQ S449, S486, XRADO, S437 or S438, opening a Cardin gate with your phone becomes a copy of a few minutes on 1Control SOLO; LINK adds distance, voice and car. S504, TXQ504 or quartz? SOLO + KIT, with a technician, on any control board. The same comparison for another brand is in open a BFT gate with your phone.
