In short: there are two ways to open a Nice gate with your phone. The manufacturer's route, MyNice: a communication module (BiDi-WiFi, for instance) fitted to a compatible Nice control unit, plus the app. Or, without touching the control unit, 1Control SOLO: it copies the Nice remote you already use (FLOR, ON, INTI, SMILO, VERY and the other models on the list) and opens from the app over Bluetooth, with no internet at the gate. The few Nice remotes that cannot be copied, such as ON3EBD and MYGO4, take a separate route: SOLO + KIT.
Two labels decide: the one on the control unit, which tells you whether the Nice module can be fitted, and the one on the remote in your pocket, which tells you whether it can be copied. This page is about Nice only; the general method is in how to open a gate with your smartphone. The MyNice information comes from the manufacturer's website.
Nice gate and phone: the two routes side by side
| Solution | What you need | Installation | Internet needed? | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MyNice, the Nice route | A compatible Nice control unit, the communication module (e.g. BiDi-WiFi on the BusT4 connector), the MyNice app | Module fitted to the control unit, usually by the installer (MyNice Pro) | Yes, for remote control and notifications | Compatible control units only: older automations are left out |
| 1Control SOLO, wireless | A working Nice remote that is on the list, and the 1Control app | No wiring: SOLO is fixed near the gate and runs on batteries | Not for opening (Bluetooth); with the LINK hub, also from anywhere | Bluetooth range 15-20 m; models off the list need SOLO + KIT |
Neither is best for everyone. If you have a recent Nice control unit, an installer at hand and want the app to tell you whether the gate is open, MyNice is the natural route. If your gate is a few years old, your FLOR or ON works and you do not want to (or cannot, in a shared driveway or a rented house) touch the control unit, SOLO puts the gate on your phone without opening anything.
MyNice: the Nice app, when control unit and module match
Nice presents MyNice as the app for managing compatible Nice automations from a smartphone, through a communication module fitted to the control unit; the usual example is BiDi-WiFi for Gate&Door control units with a BusT4 connector. The manufacturer distinguishes MyNice for the user and MyNice Pro for commissioning by the installer. The app alone is not enough: without the right control unit and module there is nothing to command.
To find out whether your automation is compatible, read the control unit label (inside the housing or in the manual) and check it against the Nice documentation, not against the motor name: a Robus or a Road may be fitted with control units of different generations. The module is installed on the control unit by someone authorised to work on it. Features, notifications and terms are those Nice states for the specific combination.

SOLO: copy the Nice remote you already have
1Control SOLO goes the other way round: it does not connect to the control unit. It learns the radio signal of your Nice remote once and sends it again when you tap the button in the app. You fix it near the gate; it is weatherproof, and two C batteries, already fitted, last about two years at ten openings a day. The phone talks to SOLO over Bluetooth, so no internet is needed nearby, and one SOLO handles up to four automations, even from different brands.
The app guides the copy in a few steps: check the model in the compatibility checker, hold the remote next to SOLO and press the button to copy until the app tells you to release it, then test the opening. Three things always apply: you copy a working original with a fresh battery (a lost or broken remote cannot be copied); one copy per gate is enough, not one per person; and the original remotes keep working, nothing is erased from the control unit. If your Nice remote uses rolling code, the control unit may ask you to enable the new transmitter after the copy, as described in the Nice receiver manual.
The check is per model, not per brand: the label is on the back or in the battery compartment.

ON3EBD, MYGO4 and quartz remotes: when you need SOLO + KIT
The two-way ON3EBD, ON3ELR and MYGO4 remotes cannot be copied over the air, and neither can the old quartz K and BT series (26-31 MHz). It is not a dead end: SOLO KIT is a small receiver with its own fixed-code remote that connects to the gate control unit; SOLO then copies the KIT remote instead of the Nice one, and your original remotes keep working. The KIT involves a connection to the control unit: if you are not comfortable with that, have a technician do it. If you have an old quartz system and only want an extra remote, QZERO is the answer instead.
From anywhere, by voice, in the car: SOLO + LINK
On its own SOLO is a Bluetooth solution: the phone has to be within 15-20 metres, less through reinforced concrete. In return it works without any network, even in an underground garage. To open from anywhere you add the 1Control LINK hub: it stays indoors, connected to the router over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, and talks to SOLO over Bluetooth (about 25 metres line of sight). LINK also brings Alexa and Google Home, while Siri Shortcuts already work with SOLO over Bluetooth. SOLO does not report whether the gate is open or closed: that is the job of the door sensor, which works with LINK.
With remotes, every extra person means an extra remote to program. With SOLO the administrator creates shares from the app, with the person's phone number and, if wanted, days, hours and an expiry date: the family, the cleaner on Thursday mornings, the builders for three weeks. Shares are free and can be revoked with a tap, with nothing to collect back.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Nice app to open the gate?
Yes, MyNice: it works on compatible Nice automations with a communication module fitted to the control unit (BiDi-WiFi, for example), normally installed by the installer with MyNice Pro. Alternatively the 1Control app with SOLO works with any gate whose Nice remote is on the compatibility list, without touching the control unit.
Which Nice remotes does SOLO copy?
The FLO and FLOR families (FLO1-FLO4, FLO1R-S, FLO2R-S, FLO4R-S, ERA-FLOR), ON and ERA ON (ON1, ON2, ON4, ON9 and the E versions), INTI, SMILO, VERY and EASY S. The two-way ON3EBD, ON3ELR and MYGO4 and the quartz K and BT series cannot be copied: for those there is SOLO + KIT. The compatibility check on your exact model is what counts.
Can I open a Nice gate from my phone without wiring anything to the control unit?
Yes, with 1Control SOLO: it copies the signal of your working Nice remote and sends it when you ask from the app. It runs on batteries, needs no cables or socket, and the phone talks to it over Bluetooth without internet. The original remotes keep working.
Do I need Wi-Fi at the gate?
No. To open nearby, SOLO uses Bluetooth. To open from anywhere, and for Alexa and Google Home, you add the LINK hub, which stays indoors connected to the router over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet and reaches SOLO over Bluetooth.
Do the original Nice remotes keep working?
Yes. Copying onto SOLO disables nothing: the remotes stay usable, for example by anyone who does not want the app. The same is true with SOLO + KIT.
In short
Two questions are enough. Is your Nice control unit compatible and do you want the manufacturer's app features, installer included? MyNice is made for you. Do you have a working FLOR, ON, INTI or another remote on the list and no wish to wire anything? Then open your Nice gate with your phone through 1Control SOLO, with free shares for the family and, with LINK, from anywhere. If you are in Ireland or elsewhere in Europe, the 1Control shop ships there directly.
