Open a Marantec garage door with your phone: app or SOLO

Smartphone with the 1Control app in front of a garage door: opening a Marantec garage door with your phone

In short: there are two main ways to open a Marantec garage door with your phone. The manufacturer's route is the maveo connect stick: a stick that plugs into the drive, joins your home Wi-Fi and opens the door from the maveo app, according to Marantec on all Marantec garage door drives from 2015 onwards. The other, with no Wi-Fi in the garage and without touching the drive, is 1Control SOLO: it copies the Marantec remote you already use (17 of the 25 models in the compatibility checker, which means the whole Digital family on 433 and 868 MHz) and opens from the app over Bluetooth. For the D564, D572 and D663 on 868 MHz and for the old 27 MHz remotes, the route is SOLO + KIT.

Two labels decide: the model of the drive (Comfort 270, 360, 515 and so on, on the rating plate) and the model of the remote (on the back or in the battery compartment). You will also find Wi-Fi modules from other makers that are wired to the drive, such as ismartgate, which publishes pages for Marantec drives: they are in the comparison below. This page covers Marantec only; the general method is in our guide to a smart garage door opener without Wi-Fi. The information on maveo comes from the Marantec and maveo websites (October 2026).

The options answer different questions. The maveo connect stick answers "is my door closed, and can I open it from the office?", with Wi-Fi and the cloud. SOLO answers "can the remote stay in the drawer?", with no infrastructure: in an underground garage with no signal as well as under a carport, and with up to four automations in one app. A wired module from another maker makes sense with good Wi-Fi in the garage and an electrician at hand. If you want both opening from anywhere and the copied remote, add the LINK hub to SOLO.

maveo or SOLO: what the maveo connect stick does

Marantec presents the maveo connect stick as the way to make an existing drive smart: according to the manufacturer it works with all Marantec garage door drives built from 2015. The maveo page lists the Comfort 260, 260 speed, 270, 270 speed and 280 (not the 260 accu), the Comfort 360, 370, 380, 390 and 390+, the Comfort 515, 516, 525 and 530L and the Comfort 861 and 861 S; for swing and sliding gate drives Marantec also requires an adapter set. The stick plugs into the drive, is set up from your phone over Bluetooth and then runs on your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi: 5 GHz networks, maveo says, are not compatible.

From the maveo app, according to Marantec, you open and close the door from anywhere with internet, see its status, get notifications when it opens or closes and share access with family and friends; there is also an auto-close timer, for which Marantec requires a photocell. The difference from SOLO is the approach. maveo lives in the drive and on the Wi-Fi, so you need a drive on the list and a signal in the garage. SOLO leaves the drive alone and starts from the remote, so only the model of the remote counts, and it works where there is no network. With 1Control, the open or closed status comes from an opening sensor that works with LINK.

SOLO: copy the Marantec remote you already have

1Control SOLO starts from the remote, not from the drive: it learns the radio signal once and sends it again when you tap the button in the app. SOLO is connected neither to the drive nor to the mains: two C batteries, already fitted, last about two years at ten openings a day. It is weatherproof, hangs near the door and talks to your phone over Bluetooth, so no internet is needed in the garage. One SOLO handles up to four automations, even from different brands.

The app guides the copy: check the model in the compatibility checker under Marantec, hold the remote next to SOLO and keep the button pressed until the app tells you to release it, then test the door. You copy a working original remote with a fresh battery (a lost or broken one cannot be copied); one copy per door is enough, and the original remotes keep working: nothing is erased from the drive.

On Marantec remotes the model is in the battery compartment or on the back. The Digital 302, 304 and 321 exist on both 433 and 868 MHz, so the frequency counts too.

1Control compatibility catalogue, 23/10/2026: 25 Marantec models, 17 copyable. The check on your exact model is what counts.

D564, D572, D663 and 27 MHz remotes: SOLO + KIT

The D564-868, D572-868 and D663-868 cannot be copied, and neither can the old 27.095 MHz quartz remotes (D101, D102 and D104). For these there is SOLO KIT: a small receiver with its own remote that is connected to the drive's control board; SOLO then copies the KIT remote instead of the Marantec one, and your original remotes keep working. The KIT involves a connection to the drive: if you are not comfortable with that, have a technician do it. With a Comfort drive from 2015, the fair comparison at that point is the maveo connect stick. If you have an old 27 MHz system and only want an extra remote, QZERO is the answer. And if your drive is older than 2015, Marantec does not list maveo for it: copying the remote with SOLO, or SOLO + KIT, are the routes that remain.

From anywhere, by voice, in the car: SOLO + LINK

On its own SOLO is a Bluetooth solution: your phone has to be within 15-20 metres, less through reinforced concrete. In return it works without any network, even in an underground garage. To open from anywhere you add the 1Control LINK hub: it stays indoors, connected to the router over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, and talks to SOLO over Bluetooth (about 25 metres line of sight). LINK also brings Alexa, Google Home and the app on CarPlay and Android Auto, while Siri Shortcuts already work with SOLO over Bluetooth. For the car there is also SOLO AUTO, which travels in the car and appears on CarPlay and Android Auto without LINK (see open your gate with CarPlay).

With remotes, every extra person means an extra remote to buy and program. With SOLO the administrator creates free shares in the app, with the person's phone number and, if wanted, days, hours and an expiry date: the family, the cleaner on Thursday mornings, the builders for three weeks. A share is revoked with a tap, with nothing to collect back.

Frequently asked questions: Marantec garage doors and phones

Is there an app for Marantec garage door openers?

Yes: the maveo app, which works with the maveo connect stick plugged into the drive. According to Marantec the stick is compatible with Marantec garage door drives from 2015 and uses your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi. Whatever the drive, the 1Control app works with SOLO, as long as your Marantec remote is on the compatibility list.

Can I open my Marantec garage door with my phone without Wi-Fi in the garage?

Yes, with 1Control SOLO. SOLO copies the radio signal of your working Marantec remote, for example a Digital 302 or 382, and sends it when you ask from the app, over Bluetooth and without internet. It runs on batteries, needs no cables or socket, and the original remotes keep working. The maveo connect stick, on the other hand, needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in the garage.

Which Marantec remotes does SOLO copy?

The Digital family on 433 and 868 MHz: Digital 214, 231, 232, 234, 302, 304, 313, 321, 323, 382, 384 and 392, plus D212 and D214. The D564-868, D572-868 and D663-868 and the 27 MHz quartz remotes D101, D102 and D104 cannot be copied: for those there is SOLO + KIT. The compatibility check on your exact model is what counts.

How do I open my Marantec garage door from the car?

With SOLO AUTO, which stays in the car and appears on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without LINK, or with a SOLO near the door plus the LINK hub, which brings the 1Control app to CarPlay and Android Auto. Both start from your copied Marantec remote; nothing is connected to the drive.

Do the original Marantec remotes keep working?

Yes. Copying onto SOLO disables nothing: the remotes stay usable, for example by anyone who does not want the app. The same is true with SOLO + KIT.

In short: maveo for Wi-Fi, SOLO for the remote

Two questions are enough. Is your Marantec drive on the maveo list, does the Wi-Fi reach the garage and do you want to see the door status? The maveo connect stick is the manufacturer's route. Do you have a working Digital remote and no wish to connect anything or bring Wi-Fi into the garage? Then open your Marantec garage door with your phone through 1Control SOLO, with free shares for the family and, with LINK, from anywhere. The same comparison for another garage door brand is in open a Hörmann garage door with your phone.
