Open a BFT gate with your phone: Mitto, Kleio or SOLO + KIT

Smartphone with the 1Control app in front of a gate: open a BFT gate with your phone, with no wiring

In short: there are three ways to open a BFT gate with your phone. The manufacturer's route, BFT EasyAXS: a connectivity module plugged into a BFT U-Link control unit, with the TaHoma app for the user. A wired Wi-Fi module on the control board's push-button input, if Wi-Fi reaches the gate. Or, without a single wire, 1Control SOLO: it copies the BFT remote you already use (Mitto, Mitto RCB, Kleio, Ghibli, TRC and the other models on the list) and opens the gate from the app over Bluetooth, with no internet. The one BFT remote that cannot be copied, the Mitto Cool C4, and the old quartz remotes go through SOLO + KIT.

The right choice depends on two things: your gate's control unit, which decides whether EasyAXS can be plugged in, and the exact code on the remote, which decides whether it can be copied. This page is only about BFT; the general method is in our guide on how to open a gate with your smartphone. The BFT facts come from the manufacturer's website.

BFT gate: the 3 ways to open it with a phone

SolutionWhat you needInstallationInternet needed?Which operatorsLimits
BFT EasyAXS, the manufacturer's route A B-EBA module (Wi-Fi, or mobile with a SIM), the TaHoma app Module plugged into the U-Link connector of the control unit; set up by an installer Yes, for remote control BFT U-Link and U-Link 2.0 control units Control units without U-Link excluded; work inside the control box
Wired Wi-Fi module from another brand A relay module, a power supply, Wi-Fi reaching the gate Wired to the push-button input of the control board Almost always Almost all: the module acts as a push button Wi-Fi often weak at the gate; work inside the control box
1Control SOLO, wireless A working BFT remote on the list, and the 1Control app No cables: the remote is copied from the app, SOLO sits near the gate, on batteries No to open (Bluetooth); yes for remote opening, with the LINK hub All: what matters is the remote (Mitto, Kleio, Ghibli, TRC, TEO on the list) Bluetooth range 15-20 m; Mitto Cool C4 and quartz remotes: SOLO + KIT

None of the three is best in every case. On a recent BFT installation with a U-Link control unit, EasyAXS is the natural route and brings the gate status. With good Wi-Fi at the gate, the wired module does the job. And when the control box cannot or should not be opened (rented home, shared gate, warranty, control unit without U-Link), copying the remote onto SOLO is the only option that touches nothing.

BFT EasyAXS and the TaHoma app: the manufacturer's route

EasyAXS is BFT's connectivity solution: modules that plug into the U-Link connector of the control unit, compatible according to BFT with U-Link and U-Link 2.0 control units. For the end user BFT points to Somfy's TaHoma app, to control the entrances from a smartphone, also remotely, and check their status; for the installer there is the EasyAXS app. The reference is the EasyAXS page on the BFT site, and it is the installer who confirms whether your control unit has the U-Link connector.

A wired Wi-Fi module on the BFT control board

The second route does not depend on the brand: a small connected module wired to the board's command input, where a wall push button or key switch is normally connected. To the control unit it is one more button; to you, a button in an app. Two things to check first: Wi-Fi at the gate, often too weak thirty metres from the router and behind a concrete pillar, and the wiring, done inside the control box: a job for an electrician or installer, to agree with the management company if the gate is shared.

Without touching the control board: 1Control SOLO copies the BFT remote

1Control SOLO approaches the problem from the other end. Instead of connecting to the operator, it learns the radio signal of the BFT remote you already use, once, and sends it again when the app asks. It connects neither to the control box nor to the mains: two C batteries, already fitted, last about two years at ten openings a day. It is weatherproof and mounts near the gate.

1Control SOLO mounted on a gate pillar: it copies the BFT Mitto remote and opens the gate from a smartphone, with no wiring
SOLO sits near the gate, wireless: it is connected neither to the BFT control board nor to the mains.

The copy is made once, from the 1Control app, which guides you screen by screen:

  1. Check the remote's code (table below, then the checker).
  2. Hold the remote against the notch on the left side of SOLO and keep the button pressed until the app tells you to release.
  3. Stay a few metres from the gate: for a rolling-code Mitto, Kleio or TRC the app asks for an authorisation step on the receiver, as when adding a new remote. It tells you what to do.
  4. With the gate closed, press the test button shown at the end: the gate should move.

Three points. You need a working remote with a good battery: a lost or broken remote cannot be copied. One copy per operator is enough; the standard SOLO handles up to 4 operators, even of different brands. And the original remotes keep working: nothing is erased from the receiver. The step-by-step procedure is in our guide on copying a gate remote to your phone.

BFT remotes and SOLO: what copies, what needs the KIT, what is quartz

Of the 28 BFT models in the checker catalogue (19/10/2026), 19 copy with SOLO, 1 needs SOLO + KIT and 8 are quartz.

Quartz: TFQ1, TFQ2, TFQ4, TO1, TO4, TZM2, TX1 and TX3 30.875 Blue 30.875 MHz, fixed code Quartz: QZERO for an extra remote; SOLO + KIT for the phone

The SOLO compatibility page for BFT sums up the most common models, and the compatibility checker has the final say: compatibility always means "if the model is on the list".

Mitto Cool C4 or a quartz remote: SOLO + KIT

A Mitto Cool C4 or an old quartz TO1: the door is not closed. SOLO KIT combines a universal receiver and a fixed-code remote: the receiver is wired to the control unit, its remote is compatible with SOLO, and that is the one you copy. Your BFT remotes keep working. With the KIT, work is done inside the control box: it is a job for an electrician or installer. If all you want is an extra remote for a quartz installation, QZERO copies it.

Opening the BFT gate from afar, by voice, from the car

SOLO on its own is a short-range device: the phone talks to it over Bluetooth, within 15-20 metres that reinforced concrete can reduce. It therefore works without any network, even in an underground garage, but it does not open from the office. For that you add 1Control LINK, the hub of the range: it stays indoors, connected to the internet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and relays commands to SOLO over Bluetooth, about 25 metres line of sight. With LINK come Alexa, Google Home, the Siri Shortcut even far from the gate, CarPlay and Android Auto. SOLO AUTO, the version designed for the car, appears on CarPlay and Android Auto without LINK. If you have no remote at all, see opening a gate with your phone without a remote.

Sharing access to the BFT gate: family, guests, tradespeople

A BFT remote you lend cannot be taken back remotely. A share can. In the 1Control app, whoever connected to SOLO with the PIN in the box is the administrator: they see the opening history and create shares, with the guest's phone number and, if they wish, dates and time slots. The guest installs the app, signs up with that number and finds the gate in their list. Shares are free and can be revoked in a tap. The standard SOLO is designed for 10 users, SOLO EVO for 50.

FAQ: BFT gate and smartphone

Which BFT remotes can SOLO copy to a phone?

The Mitto 2 and 4 (A and M), Mitto RCB02 and RCB04, Kleio, Ghibli, TRC 1, 2 and 4, RB Murale, the TEO series and the old fixed-code TFQ, TX2 306, TXF and VTM: 19 models out of 28 in the catalogue of 19/10/2026.

Can a BFT Mitto be copied without opening the receiver?

The copy is made from the 1Control app, with no wiring. For a rolling-code remote such as the Mitto, the app asks for an authorisation step on the receiver, as when adding a new remote: it tells you what to do, a few metres from the gate.

My BFT remote is a Mitto Cool C4 or a quartz TO1: what now?

SOLO does not copy them, but SOLO KIT solves it: a receiver wired to the control unit, supplied with a compatible remote that SOLO can copy. Your current remotes keep working. For an extra remote on a quartz installation, QZERO copies it.

How can I open my BFT gate remotely?

The command has to go through the internet. With EasyAXS that is the job of the module plugged into the U-Link control unit. With 1Control SOLO you add the LINK hub: connected to the internet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, it relays the command to SOLO over Bluetooth. SOLO alone opens only nearby, 15-20 metres away.

Does EasyAXS work on an old BFT motor?

According to BFT, the EasyAXS modules plug into the U-Link connector of U-Link and U-Link 2.0 control units. An older control unit without that connector is not designed for this route: what remains is the wired module, copying the remote onto SOLO, or SOLO + KIT.

Conclusion: which solution for your BFT gate?

Three questions are enough. Is the control unit U-Link, with an installer to set EasyAXS up? That is the manufacturer's route. Do you have a working Mitto, Kleio or TRC? 1Control SOLO copies it without opening anything, and the LINK hub adds distance, voice and the car. Mitto Cool C4 or quartz TO1? SOLO + KIT, with any control unit. The same comparison exists for opening a Came gate with your phone.
