Open a Teckentrup garage door with your phone: SOLO + KIT

Smartphone with the 1Control app in front of an anthracite garage door: open a Teckentrup garage door with your phone

In short: there are two ways to open a Teckentrup garage door with your phone. The first is the one Teckentrup itself names for its CarTeck DRIVE 500 and 600 operators: SOMweb, Sommer's Wi-Fi module and app, which works from afar too. The second works with any Teckentrup operator, including the older TA series: 1Control SOLO + KIT. Teckentrup is not in the 1Control compatibility checker, so 1Control SOLO does not copy any Teckentrup remote: it copies the remote that comes with the SOLO KIT, a receiver that a technician connects to the operator, and then opens the garage from the 1Control app over Bluetooth, with no internet needed in the garage.

Teckentrup is a German maker of garage doors (the CarTeck range), steel doors and industrial doors, which sells through specialist dealers and installers. The SOMweb details below come from Teckentrup's own pages and from the SOMweb app listing on the App Store; the operator and remote details come from Teckentrup's websites and manuals (all checked on 25/10/2026). Remootio and ismartgate also sell retrofit modules for Teckentrup: the comparison is further down. The overview for every brand is in smart garage door opener without Wi-Fi.

With a CarTeck DRIVE and Wi-Fi in the garage, SOMweb is the route Teckentrup itself offers. With a TA-series operator, an older CarTeck, a garage without signal or a gate of another brand next to it, the route that keeps everything in one app is SOLO + KIT.

SOMweb or SOLO + KIT: what Teckentrup offers for the CarTeck DRIVE

In its "Smart Phone Control" sheet, Teckentrup presents SOMweb as an add-on module for the CarTeck DRIVE and DRIVE PRO 500 and 600 operators. According to Teckentrup, SOMweb controls up to 10 garage doors from a smartphone app or a web browser, sends real-time notifications of the door's movements in the app or by e-mail, and keeps your data in the garage rather than on external servers; to operate the door remotely you need safety photocells, which Teckentrup supplies with the system. On its German smart-home page, Teckentrup lists SOMweb among the Wi-Fi systems you can use from anywhere "as long as there is an internet connection".

SOMweb is the smart-home system of Sommer, a German maker of garage door operators: according to the app's App Store listing, you need a SOMweb device to control Sommer operators that support the SOMloq2 radio, and the app can only be used with a photocell on the operator. Teckentrup names it for the CarTeck DRIVE; for TA-series operators and older CarTeck units it names neither SOMweb nor any other app. Teckentrup's English-language pages also list a second opener, the CarTeck MOTOR (L60 and L75), which works with myQ, Chamberlain's app, over your home internet.

The difference with SOLO + KIT is the infrastructure. SOMweb and myQ live on your home network: the Wi-Fi has to reach the garage and the router has to stay on. SOLO opens over Bluetooth even where Wi-Fi does not reach, and the KIT connects to any Teckentrup operator, whatever its age; the same 1Control app can hold up to 4 automations, even of different brands. Family and guests get free access on their phone number, with time slots and an expiry date if needed, and the app history shows who opened and when.

Which Teckentrup operator you have, and why the remote does not copy

With most brands the first step is the remote: if it is on the list, SOLO copies it and the operator stays as it is. With Teckentrup that step does not exist. The brand is not in the compatibility checker (25/10/2026), no Teckentrup remote copies, and the route to your phone is the KIT, whatever the generation of the operator.

The operator's name is on its rating plate and on the cover of the manual; the remote's is on the back or in the battery compartment. The Pearl remotes of the CarTeck DRIVE share their name with Sommer's Pearl remotes, and in the checker under Sommer the Pearl, Pearl Twin and Pearl Vibe do not copy: that road leads to the KIT as well. For an extra remote you need an original Teckentrup remote of the same generation: according to dealers, a TA-series SH4-D does not work with a CarTeck DRIVE.

SOLO + KIT: your Teckentrup garage on your phone

The SOLO KIT is not SOLO: it is a 433 MHz receiver with its own fixed-code remote, which SOLO always copies. A technician connects the receiver to the garage door operator; from then on the KIT remote moves the door, and SOLO copies that one instead of the Teckentrup remote. The KIT does not depend on the operator's radio, so it suits a TA 12 just as well as a CarTeck DRIVE, and your original remotes keep working.

  1. Have a technician connect the KIT receiver to the operator, or do it yourself if you are comfortable with electrical work; the KIT remote should now move the door.
  2. Mount SOLO near the door. It is not wired to the operator or to the mains: two C batteries last about two years at around ten openings a day.
  3. In the 1Control app, hold the KIT remote against the notch on the left side of SOLO and follow the instructions.
  4. Wait until the door is fully closed, then tap the round test button: if the door starts, the copy is done.

If you cannot connect anything to the operator, SOLO is not the right fit: no Teckentrup remote copies, so without the KIT there is no route. A standard SOLO handles up to 4 automations, even of different brands, for 10 users.

Remootio, ismartgate or SOLO + KIT

You will also come across retrofit modules with pages dedicated to Teckentrup openers. According to Remootio, its unit is wired to the control board of your Teckentrup opener and talks to your phone over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi; according to ismartgate, its unit connects to the control board and works over Wi-Fi. Both run on their maker's app and, like SOMweb, need network coverage in the garage to work from afar. A GSM module takes a SIM card and opens when an authorised number calls (see the GSM gate opener guide). SOLO + KIT is also connected to the operator, but it opens over Bluetooth even in an underground garage with no signal: the network is only needed if you add LINK.

Your Teckentrup garage from afar, by voice and from the car

On its own, SOLO works over Bluetooth within 15-20 metres: it needs no network, even in an underground garage, but it will not open from the office. To open from afar you add 1Control LINK: the hub stays at home, connects to the internet over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet and passes commands to SOLO over Bluetooth, within about 25 metres in a straight line. With LINK and an optional opening sensor, the app also shows whether the door is open or closed and notifies you when it opens and closes. LINK brings Alexa, Google Home, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; Siri Shortcuts already work with SOLO within Bluetooth range and, with LINK, from afar too. SOLO AUTO, the version to keep in the car, shows up on CarPlay and Android Auto without LINK (see open your gate with CarPlay). All of this works with the KIT too.

FAQ: Teckentrup garage doors and your phone

Can I operate my Teckentrup garage door opener with my phone?

Yes. With a CarTeck DRIVE or DRIVE PRO 500 or 600, Teckentrup offers Sommer's SOMweb module, with its app and Wi-Fi in the garage. With any Teckentrup operator, TA series included, there is 1Control SOLO + KIT: a technician connects the KIT receiver to the operator, SOLO copies the KIT remote and opens from the 1Control app over Bluetooth.

Is there an app I can use to open my Teckentrup garage door?

Teckentrup does not present an app under its own name: for the CarTeck DRIVE it names SOMweb, the app of Sommer's Wi-Fi system, which according to Teckentrup controls up to 10 garage doors from a phone or a browser; for the CarTeck MOTOR it names myQ. With SOLO + KIT the app is 1Control, the same one for your gate and other entrances.

Can a Teckentrup remote be copied to my phone?

No. Teckentrup is not in the 1Control compatibility checker: neither the Pearl remotes of the CarTeck DRIVE nor the SH4-D and SH2-D of the TA series copy onto SOLO. For your phone, the route is SOLO + KIT: SOLO copies the KIT remote, and your Teckentrup remotes keep working as before.

How do I open my Teckentrup garage door with my iPhone?

With SOLO + KIT, through the 1Control app on iPhone or Android: SOLO opens over Bluetooth when you are near the door, and Siri Shortcuts can trigger it. To open from afar, add the LINK hub; with SOMweb, the app works through your home Wi-Fi on CarTeck DRIVE operators.

In short: SOMweb or SOLO + KIT for a Teckentrup garage

With a CarTeck DRIVE 500 or 600 and Wi-Fi in the garage, SOMweb is the route Teckentrup offers, with an app, browser access and notifications. In every other case, a TA-series operator, an older CarTeck, several doors of different brands or a garage without signal, the way to open a Teckentrup garage door with your phone is 1Control SOLO with the KIT: a technician connects the receiver once, then the door opens over Bluetooth from the app, with free access for the family; LINK adds distance, voice and the car. For sectional and up-and-over doors of every brand, see the garage door app guide.
